Hi! I’m Joshua Wiley (pronounced WHY-LEE, like the coyote) Miller-Brothers, or just Josh for short. My pottery journey began in 6th grade, when I spent half a year with my nerd friends hanging out in a local potter’s studio after school. Fast-forward to my senior year of college, when I took my first class and fell in love with the craft. Twenty years later, I’ve finally circled back to the path I’ve wanted to be walking down my whole life.
Whether I’m at the wheel or hand building, playing with clay helps me find peace within myself. Making pottery centers me, slows me down, and focuses the my creativity. I teach classes at Wildgoose Gardens in Trussville, and turn pots at my home studio behind our 1920s Tudor cottage in the Avondale neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama. Pottery is my hobby; I happily spend my 9-to-5's at Southern Living magazine, where I'm the Senior Food Editor.
